Frustration... Confusion... Quarter-life Crisis?!

昨晚...

我梦见了南中。梦见我是学生时常走过的路。梦见我以前曾用过的教室。梦见我坐过的坐位。但教室是空荡荡的。昔日的同窗没有出现在梦中。最近常下雨,但梦里是晴天。没有南中湖,也没有南中瀑布。有点遗憾...

Climate Change... Again.

Was having my breakfast that I overheard a discussion on climate change on FM 95.8. Of course this time it was discussing something closer to home: our erratic weather and its impact on Singaporeans.

Really can't help being cynical when I heard that. Singaporeans are a complacent bunch. They sit at the bottom of the well, thinking the water is going to last a long long time. Even if the water may dry up sooner than expected, they will wait for the authorities to pour in more water, just so they can continue sitting in the well.

So if you want to talk about climate change's impact on the average Singaporean, there is probably not much impact. They can bear with the heat, and think there is nothing much they can do to improve the situation. After all Singapore is only a small red dot, and the sky above the dot is small compared to bigger nations...

Grammar...

Argh! Grammar's hard. No I'm not talking about English grammar. It's just amazing how easy languages are when you pick them up as a kid. You don't try to rationalise the language system; you simply embrace it as it is.

My bro's now studying basic Jap during his special semester, so I pick up his text book once in awhile to teach myself basic Jap too. When it comes to Jap grammar particles... I got to raise a white flag. は、を、へ I understand, I sometimes understand, but the others... they elude me.

My bro's reading my blog now... offered to coach me on Jap grammar. \(^o^)/

Anyway, kanji is odd in Jap too, and I've come to the conclusion that why Japs find studying such a stressful activity is because they chose the wrong kanji to represent study. Study = benkyoushimasu = 勉強します. Haven't they heard, 勉强是不会有幸福的 . Lol

Fellow Citizen

Do your part and make waste.
Life is easier when you lighten your load.
Do not seek to know everything, and do not seek to conduct matters of your own accord.

And that's how you can be a fellow/ upstanding citizen in Romdeau, the fictional city in Ergo Proxy. You simply follow orders. Do not think too much. Don't even think about questioning the authority. Be one of the unthinking masses and you can lead a safe life.

Ain't that quite a close description of how our world functions?

Cosmetics

Everybody is doing it. Cosmetic projects.

Projects done for show, just to make sure there is something to fill the pages at the yearly appraisal.

Projects done to please the management so they can brag to others their staff are highly motivated to improve everything and anything.

Projects done to cover up problems instead of solving them.

Streaming...

Wonders of technology. Been watching anime online the past couple of weeks. Finished watching Rahxephon, currently keeping a look out for the latest episode on Claymore and wondering if I should go past episode 1 for Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto and Busou Renkin. Oh, I forgot, there's Ergo Proxy as well but I only managed to get to episode 2; too cheem for my puny brain to process more than 1 episode a day.

I know this is an infringement of intellectual property right, but am really not that keen on spending money to buy some series that I am only going to watch just once. If it's something short and good like AppleSeed and Karas then it's a different story. Anyway, I do own originals for those two so nobody can say I am not supporting original works.
