The Sparrow and the Hawk

The avian flu exercise, code named sparrowhawk, was conducted today in all hospitals and selected polyclinics and schools. Basically, it is to see how well our healthcare system can handle should an avian flu outbreak occur in Singapore.

It was funny seeing my in-charge lifting his N95 mask to take a breather every 10-15 mins, and how we were all becoming hypoxic and bonkas from constantly breathing in the stale air in the mask. My in-charge, technician and I were all starting to talk nonsense by the time it was lunchtime. Really can't think straight without fresh air.

Going to be worse tomorrow as the exercise will be stepped up to red alert. Argh! Full PPE (personal protective equipment)...
